In order for a message to be a message it has to be heard and for the sender to know it was heard it has to be acknowledged, either in the positive or negative ether way the sender knows the message reached the destination intended. If your spouse were at work and an emergency arose and you had to leave the house to attend to this situation, so you decided to leave a message for your spouse, you write a note saying where you are and what the emergency is, and ask the spouse to start dinner for the kids. Somehow the note does not reach the intended recipient. Is that a message or just a note? that is just a note that never delivered its message. If a pony express rider were riding to deliver the mail and something happened to him, did he carry a message? no he carried letters that never delivered their message. ( a message is both sent and received ) When you send a message you need to request an answer or at least an acknowledgement that the message was heard. We messengers in today’s world of internet speed can send a letter out and receive a reply almost immediately, if the recipient will acknowledge receiving the message? That is the reason for placing our return mail address on the message. We are requesting a reply. If we never receive a reply, we began to wonder if our writings become a message at all, so we start to become disheartened, then we receive a reply from a reader and our heart is strengthened in our task. When at the end of a sermon your minister request a song of invitation he is requesting a reply, I cannot imagine staying with a job where no one ever replies. When Jesus delivered The Word he requested a reply. 1Jn:2:23: Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Lk:5:32: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Lk:13:3: I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Mk:16:16: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. When you accept and put on Christ in Baptism, you have just clicked on the reply button acknowledging you have received the message given by Jesus.
Paul writes 1Cor:16:18: For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such. 2Cor:1:13: For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end; When Christians ( or non-Christians ) receive a lesson from either their preacher or a Christian brother or sister, who cares for them enough to prepare , and send the Word out in written or spoken form, at least acknowledge MESSAGE RECEIVED Just click the reply button. You don’t know how much joy and encouragement you can give to a brother or sister by just clicking the reply button. Whether you fully agree with the message or not. Mt:10:14: And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
My hope is to awaken a discussion on the Bible, a sleeping religion, is no religion. But in order to plant a good seed, you have to have good ground. 7: And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
May god bless you, with a mind and spirit, of good ground. Offered in Christian Love and concern Brother Laymond Meredith
